Richard Bage – Pastor
Richard has been serving as Lead Pastor of South Park MB since May 2019. Richard grew up in Winnipeg and was baptized by the Jubilee Mennonite Church. He and his wife Benita were married in August of 2003. Before coming to South Park Richard served for 10 years as Youth Pastor at another congregation in town. Richard also serves as Chaplain for the Altona/Rhineland Fire Department. Richard considers it an honor to walk alongside families and individuals in the faith journey helping them grow deeper in their love for God and his Church. Richard and Benita enjoy travelling, spending time in their yard and spoiling their rescue cat Charley. In his spare time Richard enjoys reading and is a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers.
Nolan Hildebrand – Associate Pastor
Nolan has been attending South Park MB since May 2019 and is involved in multiple music groups within the church. Nolan grew up in Altona and has many deep roots tying him to this town. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in April of 2023 with a Bachelors of Kinesiology but has felt a calling from God into pastoral ministry. Nolan and his wife, Abby, got married in June of 2024 and are currently living in Winnipeg until Abby finishes her teaching degree at the University of Manitoba in April of 2026. Nolan has a passion for helping people and is honoured to have been welcomed into this role as pastor of community life to further serve the Lord and His people. Nolan and Abby enjoy going on hikes, playing various sports, and taking care of their cat, Ginger. In his spare time, Nolan also enjoys coaching Altona minor hockey, managing his fantasy football team, and is a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Walter E. Hiebert – Lay Pastor
Walter has been a volunteer lay minister since the Fall of 2020. He is married to Marlene, with 4 children all involved in church work in Winnipeg; they have 7 wonderful grandkids. His teaching career includes experience ranging from a 1-room country school to Chemistry lectures at the U of W. He has taught 27 years at the Mennonite Collegiate Institute, 1 year introducing Computer Science in Lithuania, and 2 terms of pastoral training in Zambia. He was a lay preacher and Bible Study leader for most of his married life. He is now retired from full time ministry after serving as pastor in 3 different churches in Manitoba since 2002. Founding members of SPMB, Walter and Marlene now enjoy evening board games and cherish time with family.
Carissa Hildebrand – Office Administrator
I started working at SPMB Church November, 2023. I was baptized and became a member at the Halbstadt Church when I was 20 and was attending that Church until July 2023. My husband Ryan and I decided to start attending a church in Altona, and have felt like the SPMB Church has been a great fit for us. We have 3 grown children, a son Braden, a daughter Averie and the youngest son Griffin. In my spare time I enjoy walking, being outdoors, travelling and spending time with family.
Cheryl Harder – Church Custodian
Cheryl has been attending South Park MB since 2022 with her husband, Al and their 2 sons, Andrew and Travis.
She grew up attending church, and was involved in youth groups as a teenager. She has taught Sunday School, helped with different children’s groups and youth, all which helped grow her faith. She and Al and the boys live on a hobby farm just outside of Altona.
She loves animals, gardening, camping, kayaking, and sewing…
